Logistics and regulations

 

Security

 

There will be volunteers posted around the race to ensure participant security.

 

Transportation

 

All participants will be responsible for their personnal transportation.  Maps shall be provided on site and signs will be posted along the roads to help with transportation.

 

Fruits and water

 

Fruits and water will be made available, only for participants, at the finish line.  This will help them replenish their energy after the race.

 

Equipment

 

A canoe, two life jackets and two oars will be made avaible for the canoe race. The paticipants will be responsible for all other equipment or provisions.

 

Spectators

 

A designated area will be set asside for spectators for each one of the three race areas.

 

Canoe: In front of the Acadian Timber nursery (2e Sault)

Mountain biking: In front of the "Club du Nord" (rang 6, accessible by turning right at the end of the Plourde road)

Foot race: At the finish line, in the field situated in front of the St-Joseph church. (Toussaint road)

Canoe Race

 

Course

 

The race will start along the landing situated at the end of the lake near the electric damn.  All canoeists will proceed to the other end of the pond to retreive a  package that will be submitted by a designated person.  This package shall then be brought back at the starting line to be given to the mountain biking participant of the same team.  Only one canoeist will be allowed to exit the canoe in order to retreive the package. A distance of roughly 3 km will be traveled.

 

Package exchange area

 

To speed up package exchange between the canoist and the cyclist, an exchange area will be marked out near the landing area.

 

Parking

 

Parking for all participants will be next to the damn and parking for the spectators will be next to the Acadian Timber nursery.

 

Rules

 

1.  All participants will depart in the same heat.

2. A life jacket must be worn at all times in the canoe.  Otherwise, team disqualification will occur.

3. Only one canoist may bring the package to the cyclist participant who will be waiting in the exchange area.

4. All intentionnal interference with other team members will result in a disqualification.

 

Mountain biking

 

Course

 

The race will start along the landing situated at the end of the lake near the electric damn. The cyclist will be able to start as soon as he receives the package from the canoist of his team.  He will then be able make his 10 km run by taking the trail that heads toward the "Club des motoneigistes du Nord" (Northern skidoo Club).

 

Equipment

 

The cyclist is responsible for his equipment wich must include a mountain bike and protective headgear.

 

Sugested equipment : gloves, camel back / water bottle on bike, bike repair tools, tire repair tools.

 

Package exchange area

 

The first package exchange will be done near the landing area between the canoist and the biker.  The second package exchange will be done in a marked out area, near the "Club des motoneigistes du Nord" (Northern skidoo Club), between the biker and the runner.

 

Rules

 

1. The biker's start is done in relay when he receives the package from the canoist.

2. The package must remain with the biker at all times.

3. The biker must remain on the marked out trail at all times.

4. All intentionnal interference with other team members will result in a disqualification.

    

Foot race

 

Course

 

The start of the race will take place at the "Club des motoneiges du Nord" (Northern skidoo Club).  When the runner receives the package from the biker, he will then proceed to the finish line situated next to the St-Joseph church by following a designated forest trail.  This trail will be filled with various obstacles such as rocks, trees, mud, water, walls, etc...  The lenght of the race is about 3 km.

 

Package exchange area

 

The first package exchange will be done in a marked out area, near the Northern skidoo Club, between the biker and the runner.

 

Rules

 

1. The runner's start is done in relay when he receives the package from the biker.

2. The package must remain with the runner at all times.

3. The runner must remain on the marked out trail at all times.

4. All obstacles must be completed by the runner.  If any of the obstacles can't be completed, the runner will have to do 30 burpees in order to proceed to the next obstacle.

5. All intentionnal interference with other team members will result in a disqualification.
